FlexNet products are designed to provide highly optimised distribution and processing solutions for the management of video data, from one or more sensors to the type of video-over-internet-protocol displays and computer nodes now common-place in modern vehicle and airborne mission equipment systems. FlexNet-2 is ideal for use in the adaptation of legacy sensors to modern system IP networks, and with the addition of compression, can drastically optimise system bandwidth usage. It eases the challenge posed by turret or gimbal slip-ring transition applications, in which fibre offers unique advantages to the distribution of multiple sensor video feeds across those size, or media, constrained links.

FlexNet-2 supports up to four CVBS (PAL, NTSC) analogue input video channels. Any input can be packetised and output over the streaming Ethernet port as the primary, raw ultra low latency channel. The same or other inputs can be selected for compression and output as a secondary channel on the same fibre port, simultaneously. Optionally, an on-board graphics API allows FlexNet-2 devices to support real-time overlay of externally commanded symbology onto a duplicate secondary Ethernet channel, for instance to overlay external tracking data. Connectors are Mil-spec and standard, to facilitate easy integration.

Housed in a waterproof and ruggedised aluminium enclosure, the device is suitable for military environment qualification. Benefitiing from a conduction cooled design, the absence of moving parts ensures a long working life and silent operation.
